Your privacy is important to Vacationist USA (“Vacationist USA” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information that we may collect anytime you interact with us including when you visit our website, contact us, apply to work with us, or subscribe to our communications. Vacationist USA provides marketing services to other organizations, and to the extent we process personal information on behalf of our clients as a service provider, our contract with our client governs the use of that information.

What Information We Collect

Our website is not intended for use by those under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect, use, process or otherwise disclose information about children under the age of 16. 

Categories of personal information we collect. The types of personal information we obtain about you depends on how you interact with us. When we use the term “personal information”, we are referring to information that identifies, relates to, describes or can be associated with you. In the past twelve (12) months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:

  • Applicant information, such as information on your resume or contained in an employment application including references, employment history, screening question responses, training, or educational history.
  • Inferences & Interests, such as what services, travel, or advertising you might be interested in.

Information you provide to us. We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you use or interact with our website. For example, when completing the “Contact Us” form or subscription to our newsletter, the types of information we collect may include your name, email address, company name, and any other information you choose to include in your message. We also collect personal information when you sign up and participate in our webinars or other industry events that we host.

Information we collect automatically. As you use our website, we may use technologies that collect certain information about you automatically, including analytics providers that tell us how you navigate our website and automated chat functions to answer questions. For example, our website includes an embedded third party application platform that collects information you provide when submitting an online application. We may also collect personal information from the organizers of industry events and conferences that we participate in or sponsor.

As is standard practice on most websites, Vacationist USA and third parties may use a variety of technologies that collect information automatically, including cookies, pixels, web beacons, flash cookies, and logging. Those technologies may collect, among other things, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We may use this information to analyze trends and traffic patterns, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base. We may also use cookies and other technologies to (i) help us understand which parts of our websites are the most popular, where our visitors are going, and how much time they spend there; (ii) to make sure that our online advertising is bringing customers to our products and services; and (iii) to customize your experience and provide greater convenience each time you interact with us. Email Tracking. In some of our email messages we use a “click-through URL” linked to content on the Vacationist USA website. When customers click one of these URLs, they pass through our web server before arriving at the destination web page. We track this click-through data to help us determine interest in particular topics and measure the effectiveness of our customer communications. If you prefer not to be tracked, simply avoid clicking text or graphic links in the email.

How We Use Information

We may use your personal information:

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

  • “Shine the Light”: California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to request information regarding the disclosure of your personal information to a third party for the third party’s direct marketing purposes.
  • The Right to Appeal: The right to appeal our decision regarding your request within a reasonable time period dependent on applicable law. 
  • Marketing Opt-Out. You may opt-out of receiving future marketing communication from us by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of email communications from us. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to process such requests in a timely manner.

Exercising Your Rights
To exercise your rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to Vacationist USA and its parent company Madden Media by:

Only you, or a person that you authorize to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child. If you are making a request on behalf of another person, you must provide written legal documentation that you are authorized to act on behalf of that individual. The verifiable consumer request must:

  • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom it collected personal information or an authorized representative; and
  • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

We may not be able to fulfill your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. To verify your identity, we may request up to three pieces of personal information about you, and we reserve the right to take additional steps as necessary to verify your identity if we have reason to believe a request is fraudulent. If you do not agree with how we responded to your request, you may ask us to review our decision by contacting us through the above noted methods.

Response Timing and Format
We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within 45 days of receipt. If we require more time (up to 90 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver the written response by mail or electronically, at your option. The response we provide will also explain the reasons it cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

Vacationist USA takes precautions – including administrative, technical, and physical measures – designed to safeguard your personal information. Please keep in mind that the transmission of information over the Internet and on mobile platforms is not always secure, which means we cannot and do not guarantee the security or confidentiality of any personal information you provide to us. Given its reality, your use of our services, and your decision to provide personal information to us, is at your own risk.

Retention of Information
Vacationist USA will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy. We will retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Please be aware that other websites, when accessed through our website, may collect personally identifiable information about you. The information practices of those third party websites linked to Vacationist USA are not covered by this Privacy Policy. 

Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect material changes in the manner in which we deal with personal information, including complying with law or self-regulatory standards, or for business purposes. We encourage you to review it regularly. Your continued use of the services and our website after we make changes is deemed to be your acceptance of any changes.
