While I love old stuff, I am still a product of the new century. So it was a delightful surprise to find that Wyoming offered me that perfect mix of old and new, of vintage country pleasures and modern twists.

Gettysburg Pennsylvania has long been recognized as one of America’s premiere travel destinations. Situated in picturesque Adams County, it offers breathtakingly spectacular landscapes, a wide variety of outdoor activities, eclectic dining and — most notably — an unsurpassed look back at our nation’s dramatic and inspiring past.

I was trying to figure out how something could be new and old-fashioned at the same time, but Dad had that taken care of—he just needed help from us kids to plan “Operation Gatlinburg.”

Snow-covered mountains, miles of deep untouched powder, six downhill ski areas and acres of backcountry terrain, plus winter festivals and warm, cozy lodging in charming small towns all make for the perfect winter getaway.

Thanks to a youthful arts scene, a budding beer community, and some of the best food in the South, Richmond is raking in the accolades and landing on travelers’ must-see lists.
