All four of us left the Black Hills with a much stronger sense of American history—and of South Dakota—than we’d had when we moseyed into town.

Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid remind me why I love Florida. Rolling hills, citrus groves, placid lakes, and small towns take me back. And there is art. Miles and miles of art.

What we found was a city teeming with fun bars, outdoor markets, and up-and-coming restaurants serving perfectly in-season local produce —a true foodie paradise.
