Wilton Manors is a small town with a big rep. Once a sleepy train stop just outside of Fort Lauderdale, this community of 12,000 full-time residents now claims the fabulous fame of being the “Second Gayest City in America.”

I was also looking forward to checking out Sumter's annual Iris Festival held at Swan Lake Iris Gardens.

This was just the beginning of our bike-centric vacation to Pasco County, a destination my wife and I chose because of its reputation for having some of the most diverse biking trails in Florida.

All four of us left the Black Hills with a much stronger sense of American history—and of South Dakota—than we’d had when we moseyed into town.
