I was also looking forward to checking out Sumter's annual Iris Festival held at Swan Lake Iris Gardens.

What we found was a city teeming with fun bars, outdoor markets, and up-and-coming restaurants serving perfectly in-season local produce —a true foodie paradise.

Known as Louisiana’s Northshore, the parish has long been popular with New Orleanians seeking outdoor fun and green spaces, but in the past few years it has become a culinary destination, as well.
