Louisville comes in right behind Los Angeles for our percentage of gay residents. Yes, you read that correctly. Louisville has the 11th highest percentage of residents that identify as gay.

It was early October, so kids were back in school and most others were saving their vacation days for the holidays. This meant we could enjoy the famous theme parks of Orlando without the crazy lines. And, without the stress of crowds, I was able to reach a new level of adventure.

Last summer, my buddy Paul, a craft beer fanatic, told me that Parkersburg, WV had some of the best breweries around.

If you had to sum up Jacksonville in a nutshell, it would be a boiled peanut: a secret recipe, an unexpected delight, and a reason to pause instead of passing through. Yes, we have 22 miles of beaches, year-round sunshine, world-class museums and all the special extras you’d expect from a city our size, but Jacksonville offers a different take on the basics.

Our pact was simple: visit all 50 states over the course of the next 50 years together, one state a year. This year, we wanted to travel to North Carolina.
