When I suggested a week winding our way up North Georgia's Hospitality Highway, my husband had just one question: "Where will we eat?"

Chicago is one of my top cities, and Jen—a friend of mine who lives there—is always down to host. Even better, she lives in the center of a killer cityscape, surrounded by award-winning museums, creative restaurants, and idyllic beaches.

Dozens of picture-perfect waterfalls, four pristine lakes, miles and miles of exciting river action, and seven state and county parks—yeah, I’m definitely game.
